Contraindications
While colon hydrotherapy is a gentle and effective treatment for many people, there are certain medical conditions and symptoms for which it is not recommended. Your safety is our highest priority.
Reading our contraindications beforehand helps ensure treatment is appropriate for you.
When colon hydrotherapy may not be suitable
Please review the list of contraindications below. If any of these conditions apply to you, colon hydrotherapy may not be suitable, or medical clearance may be required.
If any of the conditions listed below apply to you, we kindly ask that you contact us before booking your appointment.
- Abdominal/pelvic surgery (within the last 3 months)
- Anal Fissure/Fistula
- Severe Anaemia
- Aneurysm
- Cancer of the Colon, Kidney or Bladder​
- Active chemotherapy treatment​
- Cirrhosis of the liver​
- Weight loss surgery (within the last 3 months)​
- Severe cardiovascular disease, heart failure or uncontrolled high blood pressure​
- Colon Surgery (within the last 12 months)​
- Bowel resection (removal of part of the bowel​
- Crohn’s disease​
- Intracranial Hypertension​
- Diverticulitis
- Current or previous gastrointestinal haemorrhage or bowel perforation​
- Severely inflamed or bleeding haemorrhoids​
- Unexplained rectal bleeding (other than minor haemorrhoids)​
- Hernia (abdominal/inguinal)​
- Kidney Dialysis​
- Pregnancy (1st or 3rd trimester. Must have a history of having colonics in our clinic prior to pregnancy)​
- Recently given birth – natural or c-section (within the last 3 months)​
- Kidney Disease or Renal Insufficiency​
- Seizures/Epilepsy​
- Tumor in the Rectum or Large Intestine​
- Ulcerative Colitis​
